Wudinna

Wudinna HospitalMid-West Health, Wudinna provides healthcare services to the Le Hunte district, covering an area of 5,393.8 square kilometres with a current population of around 1600.

The Wudinna Site of Mid-West Health consists of 19 beds, including Trudinger Residence. The services provided include residential aged care services (including short-term respite care), 24-hour emergency and outpatient services, low risk inpatient services in the domains of General Practice Medicine (as per the Department of Health protocol for low volume hospitals).

Whilst Trudinger (Hostel) has been designed with the ability to be a totally secure environment, it is intended that those in need of this level of care will on a more permanent basis be offered accommodation in our specialist unit in Elliston.

Community health and home-based aged care support programs are coordinated from the Wudinna site by a Director Community Services.

A General Practitioner in solo practice provides after hours medical service to the hospital with general surgeons and allied health services provided from the regional hospitals of Whyalla and Port Lincoln. Additionally if a patient requires retrieval, the South Australian Ambulance Service and the Royal Flying Doctors Service facilitate this in conjunction with retrieval teams from the major metropolitan hospitals.
