Ceduna
District Health Services Inc is a Multi Purpose Site whose role and function
is to provide acute (25 beds), which include obstetrics, home based renal dialysis
and accident and emergency department and high level aged care (10 beds) and
29 low level aged care beds at the 'Senior Citizen’s Village' and primary
health care services to the community, independent living units, Family Medical
Practice and ‘Step Down’ Unit.
In November 2001 the Health Service established and set up the' Ceduna Family
Medical Practice'. The Hospital and Village are the only facilities of this type
within the Ceduna District.
RHS Regional Health Service Initiative funding has been received that will
provide increased services in primary health care. This funding will support Ceduna
District Health Service, Ceduna Koonibba Aboriginal Health Service, Tullawon Health
Service (Yalata) and Maralinga Health Service (Oak Valley) to work in partnership
to improve service delivery to our communities.
The nearest hospitals and hostel to
Ceduna are located at Streaky Bay (19 beds) some 110 kms to the South and Mid
West Health Service at Wudinna (23 beds) some 220 kms east of Ceduna. Ceduna’s
Hospital is South Australia’s last Hospital on the main highway leading
into Western Australia. Norseman District Hospital with 22 beds is located 1200
kms west of Ceduna.
