Aim
To provide quality health services to
Anangu at Yalata to keep family, community and culture strong.
The Service
Tullawon Health Service was established
in 1984 as an Aboriginal community controlled health service delivering primary
health care services to the community of Yalata on the far west coast of South
Australia.
The Community
Yalata community, with a population
of 430, was established in 1952 when Anangu of Ooldea in the Great Victoria
Desert region were relocated by the Australian government prior to the British
atomic testing at nearby Maralinga.
Programs & services
Tullawon employs registered nurses and
aboriginal health workers under a Medical Director supported by administrative
staff to deliver a range of Primary Health Care programs including:

Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Clinics
(three Tuesdays & alternate
Thursdays each month)

Emergency Care
After hours on call care is available
for Yalata community, the far west coast population and travellers on the Eyre
Highway. Tullawon Health Service in conjunction with Ambulance SA also operates
an ambulance covering the Nundroo to Eucla region.
Emergency Evacuations are by Royal
Flying Doctor Service out of Yalata.
Management
Tullawon Health Service is governed
by a Board of Management elected by Yalata community members.
